GROWTH MECHANISM AND SURFACE MODIFICATION OF NANOSTRUCTURED CeO2 FILMS BY CHEMICAL SOLUTION DEPOSITION
نویسندگان
چکیده
The growth mechanism of 7-80 nm thick CeO2 nanometric epitaxial films, deposited on (001)-YSZ from 2,4-pentadionate solutions, has been investigated using x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray reflectivity (XRR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED). The film thickness was tuned according to its linear dependence on solution concentration (0.08M-0.7M). The synthesis was performed under Ar/5%H2 at 750oC for 4h. The grain size, microstructure and surface evolution of the films has been investigated between 650oC and 1300oC in Ar/5%H2, air, and oxygen atmospheres.

In recent years, ceria and doped-ceria anisotropic nanocrystals (NC’s) have been produced by a variety of solution-based synthetic routes. The motivation in producing ceria-based NCs with controlled morphology is to develop high surface area catalyst supports with well-defined exposed crystal planes that exhibit optimal catalytic activity. Understanding the growth mechanism of CeO2 NC’s is vita...

Pulse laser ablation and subsequent laser nanostructuring at room temperature has been employed to produce nanostructured Ni on SiO2 /Si substrates for catalytic growth of carbon nanotubes. The resultant nanostructured surface is seen to consist of nanometer sized hemispherical droplets whose mean diameter is controlled by the initial metal thickness, which in turn is readily controlled by the ...

متن کاملGrowth evolution of laser-ablated Sr(2)FeMoO(6) nanostructured films: Effects of substrate-induced strain on the surface morphology and film quality.
Pulsed laser deposition was used to grow Sr(2)FeMoO(6) films of different thicknesses on MgO(100), SrTiO(3)(100), and LaAlO(3)(100) with respective lattice mismatches of +6.2%, -1.2%, and -4.3%. Surface roughness and morphology, and film crystal quality and epitaxy were determined by atomic force microscopy and x-ray diffraction, respectively. Two-dimensional layer-by-layer growth was evident f...
